The Olive Tree:  

            The Olive Tree is sacred to the people of the Holy Land, and is in many writings of many holy books. This Beautiful olive wood comes from the area around Bethlehem, The birthplace of Jesus. Every two years the olive trees are pruned so that they bear fruit. These beautiful carvings are made from the pruned limbs. After the wood has been cut it must be seasoned for several years before it can be carved.  

            Through the years, the cities of Bethlehem and Beit Sahour have become renowned for their olive woodcarvings. Each piece is unique in its color, shape and size: And each one is hand made by Christian artisans living in the area. When purchasing one of these fine works of art you are also supporting the families in the Bethlehem / Beit Sahour area.  

            Olive wood souvenirs do not require much care; olive oil is naturally protecting them from corrosions and changes of color.
